Abbreviated Trip Report: Bell & Balsam Lakes in Killarney

July Killarney Trip

Wild Women Expeditions‘ first Women & Girls canoe trip of the season kicked off my second year of guiding canoe trips for the outdoor adventure travel company for women. The weather forecast looked to be hot and sunny, consistent with the rest of the summer. We had mothers and grandmothers bringing their daughters and granddaughters to explore Killarney Provincial Park with us for a long weekend.

Canoe Trip through Bell & Balsam Lakes in Killarney:

Preparations

I arrived in Sudbury around 11:30 on Thursday morning, picked up some extra camp fuel from Canadian Tire, and headed to Jenny’s to check pantry supplies. We grocery shopped at the nearby Your Independent Grocer, organized food by day and meal, sorted group gear, tested stoves. By 5pm we were pretty well packed up and ready for the next morning.
