Rollins Pond Campground in the Adirondacks (New York State) is a fun spot to take the family camping and try loads of activities.
This campground was initially intended as overflow from Fish Creek Pond Campground which you drive through to get to Rollins Pond. Both campgrounds are for car camping; there are no backcountry spots available. My friends, their daughters, and I preferred the quiet “overflow” location to the RV- and generator-heavy Fish Creek.
Brush and trees provide privacy between generously sized sites. Each site comes with a fire pit and picnic table; you’re never far from a comfort station and spigot.
What’s There to Do?
You may rent canoes, kayaks, and rowboats from the boat launch. Rentals include the necessary safety equipment. You can fish for bass, northern pike, or perch among other local species. Children can participate in the junior naturalist program. Bring your bikes and cycle around the campground. Or take a hike on the Otter Hollow trail which starts in the campground and leads you into the Saranac Lakes Wild Forest trail system.

Getting There:
Rollins Pond Campground is about a 3 hours drive from Ottawa, 5 1/2 hours from Toronto or New York City, or 4 1/2 hours from Ithaca, New York where I was based for my last visit there. So pack up the kids and the car and get on out to Rollins Pond!

Groceries: If you are looking to grocery shop closer to the campground, towns with larger grocery stores and firewood include Tupper Lake (~15 miles) and Saranac Lake (~21 miles).
